Hey Dahlonega - Ready for Spring Festivals Season?

This past weekend, our historic town square and the Yahoola Trails Conservancy hosted the 2015 Appalachian Trailfest - and yes!  The weather held out.  This annual event celebrates the beginning of spring, the designation of Dahlonega as an AT Trail community, and our connection with the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail...

The photo above shows what a wonderful day it was to kick off spring.  See the shadows?  They mean the sun's out!  In addition to arts and crafts, this year's event featured a silent auction, lots of live music and a food, beer and wine garden...

Shenanigans Irish Pub Fire in Dahlonega, Georgia | An Update!

It was a sad, sad St. Patrick's day when Dahlonega's Shenanigan's Irish Pub, a favorite of locals + tourists alike, caught fire in the early morning hours just a few days before the holiday.  True to form, the citizens of Dahlonega rose to the occasion and within hours organized a fundraising event for the employees displaced by the fire.  Cranberry Corners donated 20% of all sales on St. Patrick's Day weekend to the cause!

The restaurant has already begun clean-up and construction, hoping to re-open October of 2014...just in time for Gold Rush 2014!

It's the Bear on the Square Festival!

It's time for the 2012 Bear on the Square Festival!  This April 21st and 22nd, welcome to the Dahlonega, Georgia town square bushels of bluegrass musicians and hand-crafted vendors.  Why Bear on the Square?  True story - when they cleared the land for our local Wal-Mart, a bear family was displaced.  one of the bears made it all the way to the town square and CLIMBED A TREE!  The forest service had to be called in to tranquilize the bear (don't worry, it was released unharmed back into the wild!).  Sensing an excuse to throw a party, the locals started our annual festival to commemorate the little bear's journey to literally - the top of the square!

Cranberry Corners will be open all weekend, so stop by and pick up a Mother's Day Gift and maybe a little gossip, too!
